Skilled Iowa is an initiative to create a workforce that is NCRC certified to work in a variety of industries along with an internship program that will be developed to create on-the-job connections between Iowa employers and individuals currently receiving unemployment benefits.

The GI Bill Web Site - The home for all educational benefits provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs.  The GI Bill can provide financial support for education and housing to qualified individuals. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the GI Bill.

Veterans Retraining Assistance Program - (VRAP)    
This program offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed veterans. The program is limited to 45,000 participants from July 1, 2012, through September 30, 2012, and 54,000 participants from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2014. Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult and Dislocated Worker Program    
      1. The Adult program aims to increase the employment, job retention, earnings, and career advancement of U.S. workers. 
      2. The WIA Dislocated Workers Program assists workers who have been laid off or have been notified that they will be terminated or laid off.

AMVETS Career Centers (Presently Unavailable) provide hundreds of free internet based training courses through a partnership with MindLeaders, Inc.  These courses are provided free-of-charge to those who meet the service and residency requirements.

College Credit for Military Experience - Your military service has likely earned you college credit. Many schools and colleges award military students credit towards a degree based on training, coursework, and occupational specialty. You've worked hard in the military -- now you can save tuition dollars and classroom time.

Registered Apprenticeship is a critical postsecondary education, training and employment option available in every state in the country.

Helmets to Hardhats is a program that helps ease the passage into civilian life for military personnel, Guardsmen and Reservists by providing information on great career opportunities, pay, and benefits in the construction industry.

Iowa Dept of Education   provides information and a listing of schools and training establishments that have been approved by the Iowa State Approving Agency for use by veterans and other eligible persons for GI Bill program benefits

RWM - Iowa Vocational Schools Database provides a database of Private Postsecondary Vocational Schools.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment  - The mission of VR&E is to help veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs. For veterans with service-connected disabilities so severe that they cannot immediately consider work, VR&E offers services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible.
