AMVETS Career Center

 AMVETS is a nonprofit organization that proudly provides this career and employment service to those who have served America honorably.

 This training is offered through a partnership with MindLeaders, Inc.		 AMVETS

MindLeaders, Inc is one of the largest developers of internet based training in the world.  Through a partnership with AMVETS they are able to provide business courses on the latest desktop technology such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Flash, as well as professional development and business skills topics such as business ethics, sexual harassment, customer service, and leadership.

Technical training includes courses on the latest computer technologies, including .NET, SQL Server, Java, XML, CompTIA, Cisco, Linux, UNIX, and Visual Basic. It also includes training on the most common legacy applications used by major enterprises, including CICS, COBOL, JCL, MVS, and VSAM.   In addition, courses on the latest computer technologies, such as SQL Server, Java and XML, and industry certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA and CISCO.

Health and Safety Courses which cover the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines are designed to provide an outline for companies to establish appropriate processes and procedures to ensure the health and safety of their employees and customers.

To be eligible for this program you must:

  • Be a veteran, active duty service member or member of the National Guard or Reserves who has served honorably.
  • Live in Iowa or be a member of an Iowa AMVETS post or served in a military unit based in Iowa.
  • Provide proof of honorable military service.
Registration

To access the MindLeaders free training, qualified Iowa veterans should contact your local IWD Veterans' Representative who can assist you in getting registered for the training.

You may also call AMVETS at (515) 243-9398 or send an email to info@amvetscareercenter.org.

You will then meet your Career Center Coach who, after verifying your eligibility and discussing your career plans, will assign you a User ID and Password. You will then be able to access the MindLeaders Logon website at your convenience, to take your courses.   

Train on Your Schedule

You may access your courses as often as you like for one year.  You may use the AMVETS Career Center, or any internet based computer you have access to.  Your career coach will be able to review your progress and will contact you on a regular basis to ensure you are achieving your goals.

Continue Future Training

You may take as many courses as you like, but you may take only one at a time.  After completing a course, you may call or email your career coach to register for additional courses.  Your Career Coach will assist you throughout this process.
