What
Is A RIG?
RIG is an abbreviation or acronym for Regional Innovation
Grant. It is a “limited” National Emergency Grant (NEG)
resource. RIGs are designed to assist state workforce
agencies or boards to develop comprehensive, integrated,
strategic regional plans.
RIGs provide regions with a conceptual framework and focus on
current or future unanticipated economic events. It’s important
for regions to get involved in the strategic planning process
because increasingly, they are the “front lines” of the global
competition battlefield.
When regions work together, companies, workers, researchers,
entrepreneurs and governments create a competitive advantage.
This comes from their ability to transform new ideas and
knowledge into advanced, high quality products and services –
innovative strategies designed specifically for each region by
each region.
Successful regions demonstrate their ability to network
innovative assets in order to generate growth and prosperity in
their local economy. |
