Region 7 Veterans Services

All IWD offices in Region 7 provide Priority of Service to veterans in all Department of Labor funded Employment and Training programs.

The Veterans Unit provides a variety of services to assist veterans in looking for work.  These services include, but are not limited to:

Recently Discharged Veterans:
If you have been discharged in the last 36 months from active military duty, there is a benefit you might not know about.  We have a Veteran Career Consultant that can assist you in getting your career plan back on track!

Assessment:
Through the use of our Assessment Store, we can provide a variety of assessment instruments and tools for the veteran.

Counseling:
The veterans representative can provide one-on-one confidential counseling concerning employability and personal and family needs. They also provide referral services, when needed, to outside support agencies.

Job Search Assistance:
We provide information to veterans on the availability of jobs in an individual's chosen field and assist that person in locating sources for those positions. We also offer an automated system that will contact veterans about potential job openings.

Work Search Training:
Because we know it may have been some time since you looked for employment, the Workforce Development Center offers programs, classes, and videos to assist the veteran in his or her work search. This service includes information on Organizing Your Job Search, Search Techniques, Writing Resumes, and Cover Letters, How to Interview, and Tips for Persons with Disabilities.

Referrals to Support Agencies:
Each individual is unique and so are his or her problems. We can provide information and refer veterans or their families to proper agencies if further assistance is needed or requested.

Case Management:
We provide special assistance to disabled veterans and veterans with disabilities, who have serious barriers to finding employment. We also assist other veterans on a case by case basis.
