Region 7 Adults and Dislocated Workers

Any job seeker, regardless of
income level or employment status can use the Resource
Center tools to access information about job openings, training
opportunities, and other services for which he or
she is qualified.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
provides three levels of services for adults and dislocated workers: core, intensive, and training, with participants moving
from one level to the next depending on their employment training
needs.
To be eligible to participate in
Staff-Assisted Core Services, an applicant must be eighteen (18) years of
age or older and meet citizenship and Selective Service
requirements. Individuals must meet income and/or other eligibility
criteria to receive intensive training, and support services.
Staff-Assisted Core Services
- Staff-assisted job search and placement assistance including
career counseling
- Staff-assisted job development
- Workshops pre-employment training, and job clubs
- Screened job referrals
Intensive Services
- Comprehensive assessments of skill levels and
service needs
- Development of an individual employment plan
- Internships
- Work experience
- Skill upgrading
Training Services
- Customized training, entrepreneurial
training, institutional skill training (post-secondary education)
- On-the-job training, remedial and basic skill
training
- Secondary education certification (G.E.D.)
Support Services
- Clothing
- Counseling
- Dependent care
- Financial assistance
- Health care
- Relocation
- Residential meals
- Services for individuals with disabilities
- Supported employment and training
- Transportation
- Miscellaneous services including occupational
licenses
