Emmetsburg enjoys a remarkable combination of cultural, geographic and institutional assets. It has been recognized as the official sister city of Dublin, Ireland. This proclamation by the mayors of the two cities was made in recognition of the strong Irish heritage of Emmetsburg. An annual reminder of this comes each March, with the famous St. Patrick's Day festivities. Emmetsburg is one of a very limited number of communities in that it enjoys a huge quality-of-life advantage in the form of a lake that nestles against the edge of town. Fine schools complete a very attractive package including Iowa Lakes Community College, featuring state of the art training in many areas of high technology and trade skills. The college campus is also home to Emmetsburg's Wellness Center and Library Complex, a surprising element of an equally impressive town. Emmetsburg may be visited on the World Wide Web at http://www.emmetsburg.com.
