PROMISE JOBS

The Department of Human Services contracts with PROMISE JOBS to provide welfare reform services to mandatory participants who are receiving a monthly cash grant from the state.

Each participant must write a contract with the state of Iowa indicating what they will do to become financially self-sufficient. The basic activities that Promise Jobs can assist with are job-seeking skills, life skills, job searching, basic/post-secondary education, work experience and employment. There is now a federal law mandating a five-year maximum on receipt of cash grants (effective 1/1/97).
