Veterans Services

Under federal law, veterans may receive preferential assistance for job placement services, as well as other programs. Region 14’s Veteran Career Consultant coordinates all services provide to special disabled veterans, including counseling, training, and employment opportunities. The Veteran’s Career Consultant also monitors job listings from federal agencies and federal contractors to ensure that veterans obtain priority service in referral to these jobs, and work closely with clients of Veterans Administration Vocational Rehabilitation.

In addition, active outreach programs are conducted with employers, community and veteran organizations. Each individual is unique and so are his or her needs. We can provide information and refer veterans or their families to the proper support agencies if further assistance is needed or requested.

In our Resource Center, veterans are able to use the center for résumé writing, job searches using American Job Bank, and other various job sites. All services are at no cost to the public.

The Veterans Career Consultant (VCC) serves all offices in Region 14, including the counties of Adams, Adair, Audubon, Clarke, Decatur, Guthrie, Madison, Montgomery, Ringgold, Taylor and Union.

Other Iowa Workforce Development personnel in Region 14 also work to ensure veteran’s preference is maintained.
