Established in 1997, the Council Bluffs IowaWORKS one-stop center allows customers to access a wide variety of services at one location.  By offering these services in a convenient location, customers spend less time searching for the right place to go and more time using up-to-date services to get the answers to their questions.  Regional partners and local agencies also use the center to meet with their customers and clients.   

The Council Bluffs IowaWORKS Center is the home of the following "Partner Agencies": Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), Iowa Western Community College Workforce Development Office (WIA, PROMISE JOBS), the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS), Iowa Western Community College Adult Learning Center, Job Corps, and the West Central Development Corporation.

In recognizing the education, training, and employment needs of the workforce in Southwestern Iowa, the Council Bluffs IowaWORKS Center prides itself on not only providing job seekers the tools they need for a successful job search, but also by making sure the resources available are used effectively.  For those individuals looking for in-depth employment assistance, staff members are available to help with traditional internet job searches, résumé development, job search and placement assistance, and career planning. The National Career Readiness Certification is offered at the Council bluffs IowaWORKS Center. Earning Iowa's National Career Readiness Certificate demonstrates that you possess job skills needed by employers & gives you an advantage when applying for jobs. There is no fee for the NCRC assessments to Iowa residents:  Assesses and certifies  work ready skills in Reading, Applied Math & Locating Information.

Employers can find information on occupational trends, unemployment, industrial growth, wage rates, and current economic issues affecting the workforce in our region.  As always, staff members are available to post job orders, make appropriate referrals, and take the appropriate steps towards meeting the employment needs of prospective employers.  The Council Bluffs IowaWORKS Center continues its commitment to doing its part to ensure the successful growth and development of the community.
