If you are interested in registering for Iowa Workforce Development
services, which will help us to notify you of current and future job openings, you
now have two methods of doing so.
Generic
Employment
Application (PDF): If a job listing
posted with Iowa Workforce Development requires completion of a
"generic" job application, complete this employment
application and send it to your nearest Workforce Development Center.
Be sure to indicate both the employer name and job order number.
Note: PDF documents used on
this site must be viewed and printed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader
Plug-in. This Plug-in is available for download at no cost to the user.

Jobs:
A self-directed job search system that allows the job seeker to view all current job openings listed with Iowa
Workforce Development.
BEC (Business and
Education Center): The Business and Education Center, or BEC, is a
partnership of education, government and private sector organizations who
believe that preparing the future workforce is more about the synergy of a
good partnership than it is about individual success.
Iowa Advantage
provides Iowans in transition a series of workshops addressing their
most immediate needs. These
include dealing with job loss, financial management, applying for
financial aid, resume development, job search methods and tips on
keeping a job in today’s environment.
Job Search Information:
In our Resource Center, information is available on how to complete different types of
résumés and cover letters. Word processing software and Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) staff are also available to assist you with the preparation of a
résumé or cover letter. Services are designed for the novice, and for the more
advanced user. Job seeking skills videos and
career information are available to help prepare the job seeker for the process of finding
and landing that new job.
Hints for Job Seekers:
If
you need help putting together a résumé, arent sure how to answer some questions on
a job application or are scared to death at the prospect of a job interview, youve
come to the right place. Here are some hints to make the job search less frightening and
more productive.
Internet
Job Search Sites: Use this resource to search the
country for jobs listed on various Internet sites.
Training Testing and Instruction:
Computerized testing is offered in typing, ten-key and data entry.
Computerized training is also available to help you improve your typing
and ten-key abilities. The Resource
Center works with Des Moines Public Schools by providing students
classroom and hands-on training and assistance with job placement.
Students receive academic credit for their participation in this program.
Veteran Services:
Veteran representatives work closely with the Veterans Administration to assist disabled
veterans with job placement. They are also available to provide all veterans with
employment assistance and information about veteran programs and services.
First
Call For Help: If
you need assistance in areas other than your job search, try the First
Call for Help, sponsored by the Central Iowa Chapter of the American Red
Cross. This site lists contact information for a wide variety of agencies
providing assistance in the Central Iowa Area.
