The Pella Workforce Center provides most of the services found in larger Workforce Development Centers.

We assist individuals seeking employment and refer them to job openings placed with us by local employers.  We take unemployment insurance claims and answer questions regarding this process.  We have a resource room with PCs, making it possible for job seekers to conduct work searches not only locally, but nationwide.  Job seekers may also write and print a résumé or cover letter and practice their typing, data entry or keyboarding skills. 

The Pella Workforce Center refers clients to other supportive services such as Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Human Services, Veterans Affairs and housing and utility assistance programs.

Pella is a community of Dutch heritage located approximately 40 miles southeast of Des Moines, IA.  Our population is 10,700 with a median income of $37,384.  In the 1960's Pella began a restoration of it’s business district, which has resulted in a charming replica of a village in the Netherlands, complete with a Dutch canal lined with businesses.  We will soon have a working replica of a Dutch windmill which will serve as our visitor’s center.

Pella is home to Vermeer Manufacturing a global leader in the manufacturing of construction, agricultural, utility and environmental equipment.  They have seven plants in Pella employing approximately 4,000 people.  Another major employer located here is Pella Corporation, which manufactures Pella windows and doors employing about 3,000 people.  Due to our large industrial base we have hundreds of people commuting to Pella on a daily basis to work at these and other smaller area manufacturing sites.
