The Iowa Workforce
Development Center understands the need for a sound employment environment
in the community. Iowa Workforce Development is dedicated to
providing employers with services that will enhance their businesses and
add to the continued growth of the local community.
IowaWorks:
Iowa Workforce Development's business and employer portal.
Employer Services Team: Personnel
who work closely with employers to advise them on the services available
through IWD and its partners. They may also work as a liaison
between the employer and Iowa Workforce Development.
Job
Bank: A database
where you, the employer, can list your current job openings so they will
be visible by anyone utilizing an Iowa Workforce Development Center or
the Internet. Orders in our database will automatically list
your positions on America's
Job Bank. It also provides you with a point of contact at the
Workforce Development Center for questions and advice concerning your job order. You

Recruiting: Iowa
Workforce Development can assist companies by recruiting and screening job
applicants. Based on the information you provide outlining the
skills and requirements of the positions, IWD will seek the best qualified
candidates to apply to your business.
Testing Services: The Iowa
Workforce Development Center in your area can administer tests on typing, 10-Key and data entry skills
to applicants at your request. To make an appointment, contact
your local office or call (515) 281-9600.
A system developed by American College Testing (ACT) that provides
a structure for documenting and improving work place skills.
WorkKeys™
is implemented in three steps: job profiling, assessments and training
targets. This process enables employers to screen employees
for needed skills, determine training needs of entry-level and current
employees and provide schools with information on how to prepare students
for the workplace.
Veterans
Services: Our veteran service representatives can assist you with all levels of your staffing needs
through the use of a state wide data base. They also provide
information pertaining to veteran
issues.
Consulting Services: Iowa
Workforce Development provides low-cost consulting and training to assist
business in maintaining compliance with the laws governing employment and
the workforce. Employers may obtain consultation on
OSHA,
workers' compensation, hiring practices, unemployment insurance and labor
market information.
Business Closings/Downsizings: Should
your business experience a closing or restructuring, partners of Iowa
Workforce Development are ready to help employees make the transition to
other employment. Laid off workers are provided access to services,
including support and training.
Labor
Market Information: Provided as a
service to employers to assist with all their business decisions.

Employment
