We offer many fun, exciting, and free workshops
centered on helping you find and keep a great job. Topics include
resumes, cover letters, money management, conflict resolution, social media,
different personalities, soft skills management, and much more! Some of the
workshops even come with a certificate that can then be placed on your
resume as a form of education.

All workshops are held at the Iowa Workforce Center,
located at 430 East Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA, 50309, unless otherwise noted
on the schedule. Come visit us today for all of our workshops or just
pick and choose those that interest you. Free parking is also
available on-site for your convenience. We recommend you call and
register for our workshops ahead of time at 515-281-9619, but walk-ins are

seeking employees in the building trades. Admission to the job fair is free
to those seeking employment. Learn about the skills, positions and salaries
in central Iowa, as well as apprenticeships and training programs in the
building trades. National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing will
be available on site, too. By taking the free test, you show employers you
are qualified for open positions.

new service to residents of Iowa: “Conversational English”, Everyday
English for Living in Iowa workshop.
The workshop is scheduled every other week from 9 AM – Noon, Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, beginning Monday, January 6
The workshop will be held in Room 127, at the Workforce Center, 430
East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309
The workshop is free, and there are no textbooks to buy. Class
materials will be provided at no charge
The workshop is designed for students who already have very basic
English reading, writing, and speaking skills
Students are welcome to join the class at any time after completing
The assessment is a simple pencil and paper one, plus
oral questions, designed to measure basic reading, writing and speaking
