New Iowan Center

Region 10 is home to one of several New Iowan Centers
across the state.
These sites were created to provide an infrastructure/network for serving
foreign nationals, a community one-stop for anyone new to Iowa, and
coordination of services to immigrants.
The focus of the New Iowan Centers is to help ANYONE
new to Iowa, whether from another state or another nation, with needs they
may have associated with relocation. Services available to New Iowans
include:
- Assist with Immigration and Naturalization Service
forms assistance and statewide referral
- Complete forms and documents
- Identify and coordinate support services such as
housing, transportation, child care, legal services, counseling and
interpretive services. Emergency referrals for medical, housing/shelter,
and food are also made.
- Coordinate delivery of English-as-a-Second Language
(ESL) classes
- Provide employment related services such as job
placement, job-seeking skills/job-keeping skills, and individual
counseling
- Outreach and assessment for employers services
