IWD Business Services

The Workforce Development Partnership (WDP) is much more than just the “unemployment office.” The goal of the Workforce Development Partnership is to provide quality, customer-driven services that support prosperity, productivity, health and safety for Iowans.

Services for employers in the seven-county area of Region 10 (Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Washington) include:

  • Recruiting
    WDP staff seeks to match job seekers against the employment needs of prospective employers, and to make appropriate referrals. No fees are charged. Jobs listed with IWD are posted in local offices, and on several Internet sites: IowaJobs and

  • Outreach
    Region 10 has a Business Liaison to provide area employers assistance with recruitment and training needs, coordination of large-scale recruitment, such as the Career & Employment Fairs, and marketing of WDP products and services.

  • Career and Employment Fairs
    Annual career & employment fairs are held in Region 10, offering employers and job seekers the opportunity to interact at a single location. Please contact us for details.

  • Testing Services
    Verify a candidate’s skill level with proficiency testing.  Testing is available for a variety of software programs, in addition to the typing, 10 key and data entry tests.  All are available at no cost to the employer or job seeker.  

  • Skilled Iowa
    Skilled Iowa Initiative works to increase skill levels of Iowa’s workforce – which helps people find great jobs, companies find skilled workers, and our state’s economy grow and prosper.  For more information contact your local business services representative at (319) 365-9474 ext 31206

  • National Career Readiness
    NCRC is a portable, nationally recognized credential that serves as proof of workplace skills. Employers across Iowa recommend the certificate to job applicants and use it in their hiring processes.  For more information or to schedule a test time, call 319-365-9474 Extension 31185.
