SW Iowa ECI: “Ten Hour OSHA Training Certificate Course for Construction Trades”
CLARINDA/SHENANDOAH, IOWA – The Southwest Iowa Employers’ Council (ECI) in conjunction with Iowa Workforce Development is offering the Ten Hour OSHA Safety Training Certificate Course for Construction Trades in December for employers who are interested in promoting safety in their workplace. The training sessions will be led by Mike Whitmore, Compliance Assistance Specialist with the Iowa Dept of Labor, Iowa Workforce Development. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be eligible to receive their 10-Hour OSHA Safety card.
Construction Trades Ten Hour OSHA Safety Training Certificate Course
December 8 and 9th, 2010: Wednesday the 8th 8:30 am to 4:30 pm & Thursday the 9th 8:30 am to 12:00
Location: Clarinda Treatment Complex Auditorium, 1800 North 16th Street, Clarinda, IA 51632
Cost: $25.00 per person includes program expenses, lunch & refreshments.
Training is approved for 10.0 General credit hours towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI.

• Hazard Communications (RTK) and Health Hazards
• Personal Protective Equipment and Fire Protective Equipment

• Emergency Action Plans
• Scaffolds/Fall Protection and Excavations/Confined Space Entry
• Ladders/Stairs Safety and Concrete/Cranes Safety
SHARP and VPP are company recognition programs for safety and health management awarded by the Commissioner of Labor on behalf of the Governor of Iowa. Employers should note that this program is completely separate from the IOSH Enforcement staff, no citations are issued or penalties proposed, and it is confidential.
Iowa Workforce Development will commit its resources to Iowa’s prosperity by working to ensure the income security, productivity, safety and health of all Iowans. One goal is to reduce the incidence of injury or illness to workers by enhancing the ability to identify and control safety and health hazards. Employers can learn about potential hazards at their worksites and improve their occupational safety and health management systems by using IOSHA’s consultation services and training opportunities.
The Southwest IA Employers’ Council is a local employer group supported by Iowa Workforce Development Region 13 including Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Cass, Freemont and Page counties, and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system.
