Southwest Iowa ECI: “I-9 Documentation, DHS IMAGE Program & E-Verify”
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA – Since the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement arm has been conducting frequent public and aggressive investigations into illegal hiring at worksites, companies need to pay close attention to worksite issues to ensure I-9 Compliance.
The SW IA Employers’ Council is sponsoring a training session on “I-9 Documentation, DHS IMAGE Program and the E-Verify program” on Wednesday May 12, 2010. The session will be held from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Lied Center at Iowa School for the Deaf, 3501 Harry Langdon Blvd, Council Bluffs. All business owners, human resource personnel, attorneys, paralegals, financial officers and payroll staff are invited to attend. Due to the complexity of this topic, employers are encouraged to send multiple staff.
Program topics include:

Featured speaker will be Special Agent Bob Kyle who is the IMAGE Coordinator in the Office of Investigations, US Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, SAC, St Paul, MN. Agent Bob Kyle has spent over 20 years in government service and is a military veteran, serving in the US Air Force stationed at Offutt AFB. Agent Kyle spent over ten years with the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Chicago, IL before moving to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where for the past seven years has worked on Human Trafficking, Human Smuggling, Narcotics, and is a member of the Asset Identification and Removal Group (FOLLOW THE MONEY), and IMAGE Program (ICE Mutual Agreement Between Government and Employers).

There is a registration fee of $25 to attend which covers meeting expenses and lunch. Pre-registration is requested by Friday May 7th to Carol Morgan at (712) 242-2131 or . This program has been approved for 4.0 (General) recertification credit hours towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). A certificate of attendance will be provided at the training session.
The Southwest IA Employers’ Council is a local employer group supported by Iowa Workforce Development Region 13 including Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Cass, Freemont and Page counties, and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system.
