Trenching and Shoring -- Construction work is dangerous-and work involving trenching and excavating activities tends to be the most hazardous in the industry. Yet, we see trenching and excavating work going on all around us. Excavations are needed for the installation and repair of utility lines, replacement of water and sewer lines, swimming pool construction, even grave digging. Excavation projects vary considerably, each with its own set of unique problems. There are many potential hazards when working in excavations and trenches. Probably the most common hazard at any worksite is the threat of cave-in. A cave-in occurs when walls of an excavation collapse. Learn about the hazards of trenching and how to minimize risk exposure to workers dealing with this.
All business owners, human resource professionals, personnel staff, attorneys, construction and city and other government workers involved in trenching and excavating are invited to attend.
There is a $35.00 fee, which includes lunch and beverage, to attend but pre-registration is requested for planning purposes by Friday Sept.18, 2009 to Bob Becker at (712) 262-1971 ext. 126 or .
