Iowa Workforce Development Encourages Iowans to use IowaJobs.org

Council Bluffs, Iowa – Whether looking for a job or seeking to hire qualified applicants, Iowa Workforce Development encourages Iowans to begin their search with IowaJobs.org.

“By using IowaJobs.org, employers and job seekers can take advantage of the many services we provide,” said Elisabeth Buck, Director of Iowa Workforce Development. “IowaJobs.org offers something for everyone statewide.”

At any given time, over 13,000 jobs are posted. Many of Iowa’s top employers have their job openings automatically added to IowaJobs.org directly from their web sites. This ensures that only the most current jobs are posted.

Employers can take advantage of the many screening options available to guarantee only qualified applicants are submitted. They can also save time by having Iowa Workforce Development staff manage their job postings. In addition, employers can find access to labor market information along with other employment data. Michael Flanagan filed for Unemployment benefits last September and was directed to the Council Bluffs Workforce Center Resource Room in order to register for work. At the time, Michael had no computer knowledge or skills, but he was willing to learn. He wanted to be ready the next time a potential employer instructed him to apply online. After spending some time working with staff in the resource center, Michael was able to apply for jobs online, set up and receive e-mail and to follow up with those applications. Michael would check IowaJobs.org daily and refer himself to the open positions as appropriate for his skills. Michael learned just last week that he was hired as a line mechanic with ConAgra Foods. Flanagan credits his success to the resources available to him through IWD.

This is just example of the many success stories from IowaJobs.org and the resource room at the Council Bluffs Workforce Center. To learn more about how IowaJobs.org can help you, contact the Council Bluffs Workforce Center at (712) 242-2100.
