DES MOINES – The current downturn in the national economy has affected Iowans at home and at work. Iowa Workforce Development and KCCI have teamed up to provide assistance to Iowans looking for a new career opportunity and for those who simply have questions on programs and available opportunities.
Options and Answers During a Struggling Economy
“Partnering with KCCI allows us to reach out to individuals in Central Iowa in unique ways,” indicated Iowa Workforce Development Director Elisabeth Buck.
On Wednesday, February 25th, IWD and KCCI will partner to host a career fair at the Des Moines Workforce Center, 430 East Grand Avenue. Employers will be on hand from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM and from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at night with to speak with job seekers on job opportunities available right now! KCCI will be broadcasting live from the event throughout the day and providing additional information on programs and services for Iowans.
On Wednesday evening, a live phone bank will be established at the KCCI studios from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Iowa Workforce Development staff and area employers will be taking calls and answering Iowans questions on applying for new jobs, types of benefits available, information on what employers are looking for and more.
