Online Reporting for Unemployment Benefits, Easy Option with Less Waiting

DES MOINES – Individuals receiving unemployment compensation are required to report on their job search and employment status weekly to continue receiving benefits. Iowa Workforce Development provides multiple reporting options, including online and over the phone.

“We encourage individuals to handle their weekly reporting online,” stated Iowa Workforce Development Director Elisabeth Buck. “It’s a simple process that can be completed in a few simple steps. Individuals can access the system from any Internet capable computer.”

Weekly online reporting can be completed at by accessing the filing link under announcements or selecting the drop-down services menu. This service is just a click-away, accessible 24/7 and is the most efficient way to file.

Additionally, individuals may call 800-850-5627 and complete the voice prompts for filing. During times of heavy volume, individuals may have longer wait times. The 800 number is accessible from 10:00 AM Saturday through 11:30 PM Sunday and again from 7:30 AM to 4:59 PM on Monday. All claims filed during these three days will be processed Monday evening.
