Veterans Appreciation Days

Helping Our Veterans with Employment Resources H.O.V.E.R.

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The Iowa Workforce Development Center of Dubuque, Iowa in sponsorship with Northeast Iowa Community College and the Telegraph Herald will be hosting “Veterans Appreciation Days” on October 29, 30 & 31, 2007. All members of the 133rd, Veterans and their spouses are welcome. The highlights include: Computer Skills Training 101, Résumé Development, Interviewing Skills and Techniques, and a chance to meet with human resource professionals from three local businesses.

Computer Skills Training 101 and Résumé Development workshops are being held on October 29, 2007. The computer skills workshop will introduce non-users to the fundamentals of computer use. Computer workshops are being held at 9-11 a.m. and at 5-7 p.m. at the NICC, Town Clock Center at 680 Main Street in Dubuque, Iowa. The Résumé Development workshop will help attendees learn about the appearance and requirements of résumés and will offer the chance to have current résumés reviewed. This workshop will run from 1-3 p.m. and is being held at the Iowa Workforce Development Center at 590 Iowa Street in Dubuque, Iowa.

The October 30, 2007 workshop, Interviewing Skills and Techniques, will be held at 9-11 a.m. and at 5-7 p.m. at the Iowa Workforce Development Center at 590 Iowa Street in Dubuque, Iowa.

On October 31, 2007, the host employers, which include the City of Dubuque, BioLife Plasma Services, and Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa will offer the chance for attendees to learn how human resource professionals view completed applications. Human resource professionals from these three local companies will help attendees learn what it takes to become a firefighter or police officer with the City of Dubuque, or a phlebotomist with BioLife Plasma Services, and they will also share information about the benefits that come with Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa’s job opportunities. This workshop is being held from 9-11 a.m. at the Iowa Workforce Development Center, 590 Iowa Street, Dubuque, Iowa.
