A new state law, which goes into effect on July 1, 2005, will require that Iowa employers provide employees with wage and deduction information every pay period. The law also allows Iowa employers to require that new employees sign up for mandatory direct deposit of their wages when certain conditions exist. The law amends Iowa Code Section 91A.3(3) and 91A.6, the Iowa Wage Payment Collection Law.
Dave Neil, Labor Commissioner stated, “This change to the Iowa Code should adequately protect employees who have agreed to electronic payroll arrangements with their employers.”
