The Laborshed studies
brochure defines "What this tool can do for your community". Iowa
Workforce Development (IWD) conducts Laborshed studies and other
specialized surveys and analyses to assist community efforts to
highlight their area as a place to live, work, expand and/or operate
a business.
A
Laborshed is defined as the area or region from which an employment
center draws its commuting workers regardless of natural or
political boundaries. This
study gives communities the ability to document and illustrate the
characteristics of their labor force.
