  • Does Iowa have prevailing wages information for contractors?
    The State of Iowa does not have its own prevailing wage; therefore, no prevailing wage rates for contractors are available.  However, contractors involved in federally-funded constructions projects must pay the Davis-Bacon wages rates.
  • What is Iowa's current minimum wage?
    The current minimum wages is $5.15 per hour.
  • Where can I find cost of living information?  The cost of living is based upon the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and is available through the U.S. Department of Labor or the Iowa Trends Web site. (The CPI is available for the U.S. or by region only.)

    Iowa Workforce Development does not survey employers on benefit information.  However, national information is available on the U.S. Department of Labor Web site.

  • What is the seasonal adjustment
    Seasonal adjustment is a statistical technique which eliminates the influences of weather, holidays, the opening and closing of schools, and other recurring seasonal events from economic time series.  This permits easier observation and analysis of cyclical, trend, and other non-seasonal movements in the data.
