Inflatable amusement rides, or bounce
houses, can become deadly on a windy day.
According to rideaccidents.com, at least 10
inflatable rides have become flying objects in the last two
months resulting in injuries of 40 people. Most of the
injured have been children. Some of the injured were not
in an inflatable ride, but were hurt when an airborne ride hit
them.
Operators of inflatable rides must follow the
manufacturer's instructions, including properly securing the
rides to sandbags or stakes to keep the rides on the ground.
This is especially important on windy days, and the
manufacturer's instructions may include a maximum wind speed for
safe use.
