New Iowan Center – Assistance for anyone who is new to Iowa or of limited English ability in job search, resume assistance, help filling out applications, assistance with wage claims and other work-related problems, one-on-one English and citizenship classes, community referrals, limited English-to-Spanish interpretation and translation. Choices Career Assessment Workshop – The Choices Career Assessment is a web-based system with several career assessments and a “career finder” feature that matches assessment results to a list of careers. Occupational information is available through the Choices system as well as links to information about relevant educational programs. It has been made available through the Iowa College Student Aid Commission. Monthly Workshop at the Workforce Center at 430 East Grand in Des Moines: The 3rd Thursday each month in the 3rd Floor computer lab from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Iowa Career Readiness Certificate - Whether you’re looking for a job or seeking to bolster your credentials, earning a Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) gives you proof of your job skills. There are three testing locations available. DMACC Workforce Training Academy - DMACC in partnership with Iowa Workforce Development offer job seekers a variety of trainings to help prepare a job seeker in the areas of resume and cover letter development, interviewing, computer and internet skills training and computer lab assistance. DMACC Workforce Training Academy GED Tuition Assistance Program - Free GED classes during the day, Monday – Friday. Classes are free. Taking the GED test costs $85. Contact: 281-9680.
