May an employer mail a paycheck to an employee without written consent from the employee?
No. Under an amendment to Iowa’s Wage Payment Collection Law, effective July 1, 2008, an employer may not mail a paycheck to an employee without the employee’s written consent. An employer must obtain an employee’s written consent before a paycheck is sent via the mail. Please note the change in the law applies to the mailing of an actual paycheck. It does not apply to the mailing of paystub information.
