Question :
I need to file for Unemployment Insurance. How do I do that? Do I have to come into the office?

Answer :
Your Unemployment Insurance claim will be effective the week that it is filed. Iowa Workforce Development offers several different ways to file for unemployment insurance benefits:
If you have access to the Internet, you can use our online system to file. This system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can visit your local Iowa Workforce Development office and file online using one of our resource center computers.
You can visit your local Iowa Workforce Development office and complete a paper application. If you worked in Iowa during the last 18 months and if you worked in another State, for the military, or Federal Government, it is suggested that you call your local IWD office for further instructions or e-mail UIClaimsHelp@iwd.iowa.gov.
