Question :
What is a dependent?

Answer :
Dependents are persons for whom you are financially responsible, such as children, or spouses who earned $120 or less in the week prior to filing your Unemployment Insurance claim. Children and other family members can be claimed as dependents only if you are allowed to claim them under federal income tax guidelines, and claimed them on your federal income tax this past tax year, or will claim them in the current tax year. You cannot claim any dependents already being claimed on an Unemployment Insurance claim by another individual within the current benefit year.
