Can I file for Unemployment Insurance in any state, even if I’m not a resident of that state?
Yes, there is no residency requirement under regulations provided by the U.S. Department of Labor. Please make sure that you are able to provide your work history for the past 18 months so that you may be given any options that you may have. An unemployment insurance claim will be taken by paper; or you may be directed to call another State to file an unemployment insurance claim against that State. You can not have a claim in two or more states at a time. Contact your local Iowa Workforce Development Office to determine your options.
