Question :
What is PROMISE JOBS? Are you promising me a job?

Answer :
PROMISE JOBS stands for “Promoting Independence and Self Sufficiency through Employment.” PROMISE JOBS is Iowa’s program to help Family Investment Program (FIP) recipients become financially self-supporting. With very few exceptions, the program requires active, on-going participation in order to get FIP benefits. Some activities included in PROMISE JOBS are life skills workshops, GED services, post-secondary education, on-the-job training, job seeking skills classes, and work experience. The program doesn’t promise we’ll get you a job; it promises we’ll provide services to help you get and keep employment.
