Migrant & Seasonal Farm Workers Program
Law to protect Migrants and Seasonal Farm Workers.
This is one of the most important federal laws that deal exclusively with farm employments. It was created to protect Migrants and Seasonal Farmer Workers in issues related to salaries and working conditions.
This law requires the contractors to register with US Department of Labor to ensure the protection needed by farm workers and agricultural associations.
To whom this law protects?
Even though there are some exceptions, generally this law protects
Migrant and Seasonal Farm workers in their relationships with farm employments, and their dealings with contractors, employers, and other organizations. In other words, any person that hires, requests, recruits, transports or works in the agricultural area.
