Iowa Work Incentive Grant

The Iowa Department of Workforce Development, in partnership with eleven state agencies and organizations, has developed and enhanced its One-Stop Workforce Development Center system as  a valued resource for persons with disabilities. The federal Department of Labor has awarded a $1 million grant to implement this plan. The funds have upgraded Iowa’s current one-stop delivery system to more effectively and efficiently:

• Assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining and retaining competitive, unsubsidized employment; and
• Assist employers in locating and connecting with potential workers, including persons with disabilities.

This project improves the effectiveness of the One-Stop Center system on a statewide basis by identifying and eliminating barriers to services at the grassroots level.
