Quarterly  Census  of  Employment  &  Wages  (QCEW) Query Tool
Content This tool provides data on industry employment, wages, and number of business establishments from all employers covered by the state unemployment insurance laws.  Historical data are available back to 1976; however, beginning in 2001, data are reported using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).  Data prior to this year are organized by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and are not comparable.

Caveat(s) Data comparisons from one state to another should take into consideration the differences in UI laws between states. Also, when UI-covered private industry employment data are compared directly with other employment series, the coverage exclusions should be noted (wage and salary agricultural workers, self-employed farmers, self-employed nonagricultural workers, domestic workers, and unpaid family workers).
