A Laborshed is defined as the area or region from which an employment center draws its commuting workers regardless of natural or political boundaries. Laborshed Studies address the availability and willingness of current and prospective employees to change employment, the current and desired occupations, wages, hours worked, distances willing to commute for employment opportunities, as well as underemployment and out-commuting patterns.

Laborsheds are conducted on an “as requested” basis and the fee is based on the population and employment of the Laborshed area.  Once multiple Laborshed Studies are performed in an area, Regional Laborshed Studies can be produced.  For additional information, call (515) 281-4896, or e-mail
