
Occupation – The unique set of tasks, skills, and abilities associated with a worker’s performing a particular job.
Occupational
Employment Statistics (OES)
– The Federal/State cooperative program
which produces current estimates of industry staffing patterns through
periodic surveys of the nonfarm wage and salary sector of the
economy. Occupational wages are also made through the survey.
Occupational
Information Network (O*NET) –
A comprehensive database of worker attributes and job characteristics.
As the replacement for the Dictionary of Occupations Titles, O*NET
will be the nation's primary source of occupational information.
Occupational Staffing Patterns – This concept describes an industry in terms of its occupational distribution. For example, an occupational staffing pattern for the electrical machinery industry would indicate how many of the workers in the industry were employed as electrical engineers, electronic technicians, assemblers, etc.
Overtime Hours –
Overtime hours represent the portion of gross average weekly hours
which were in excess of regular hours and for which overtime premiums
were paid, as calculated by CES.
