Paula Nissen, Bureau Chief

The Bureau of Research and Performance Planning produce information that is intended to support the state’s economic development efforts and analyze unemployment insurance statistical data.

Economic development products of the Division include the Fringe Benefits Profile, Iowa College Student Survey, Laborshed Studies, Workforce Needs Assessment (Job Vacancy), and various analyses on industry clustering, dislocated workers and educational outcomes measures.

Unemployment insurance statistical data are used for federal workload reporting; determining triggers for extended benefits programs, describing the size and scope of the UI program on local economies, and as an economic indicator.  This research also includes unemployment insurance trust fund statistics, trust fund solvency analysis, and employer contribution statistics.
