If you call in your weekly claims as instructed you should receive your first payment within approximately three weeks after you first apply for benefits, if you meet all of the eligibility requirements, and if there are no separation or availability issues that have to be resolved. You will be paid biweekly unless you choose direct deposit or debit card. . Direct deposit and debit card are the methods that allow weekly payment. To check on the status of your payment, call 1 (800) 850-5627 (in the Des Moines area call 281-6231) between 7:30 AM. and 4:59 PM, Tuesday through Friday. Press one to check on your payment.
